    - full and partial scholarships will be awarded to students based on both talent and potential

    - students between the ages of 6-18 are eligible to audition

- up to three “full” scholarships may be awarded, within the following categories:

      1)  "Fort Worth ISD Scholarship" to one Fort Worth ISD student

selected on the basis of talent and potential.

      2)  "Tons of Potential Scholarship"

for any student demonstrating the potential for serious growth and study as a young dance artist. Students from any public or private school are eligible to audition for this scholarship. Students with no or minimal previous dance training are encouraged to audition.

      3)  "FWAFA/TESA Scholarship" to one student from FWAFA or TESA

    - It is at the discretion of the scholarship committee to determine if there are worthy candidates within each of these categories.  Partial scholarships are sometimes awarded to additional students on a discretionary basis at varying percentages (usually a 25%, 50% or 75% scholarship)

    - scholarship awards are for the Fall Semester 2010 only, but are subject to renewal for future semesters (based on student progress and attitude, the recommendations of CD/FW faculty, and CD/FW’s ability to continue the program).  Scholarship students will be asked to attend an audition each fall as part of their renewal application process.

Scholarship auditions will take place on WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 1st in the NEW studio in the new addition of FWAFA – Rm 244 (ground floor).

7:15 pm check in for 7:30 - 8:15 pm audition -- ages 13-18

REQUIREMENTS:

Any student seeking a scholarship must fulfill the following requirements to be considered:

1)  Attend a scholarship audition at a designated date announced by the CD/FW School.

2)  Fill out a scholarship registration form at check-in. A parent or legal guardian must check-in the student, and sign a waiver of liability form in addition to filling out the scholarship registration form.

3)  Fill out a schedule availability form.

4)  Bring or send (preferably on the audition day, but required within 2 weeks of the audition), a short letter of recommendation from a current or recent teacher who can verify that the student has made satisfactory scholastic progress in the past year, and that the student shows good effort in the classroom. The letter/note should have the teacher's signature, and indicate a method for how to contact the teacher if there are any additional questions.  E-mail letters will be accepted if the teacher sends the letter from an official school e-mail address and includes a school phone number where they can be contacted.  Home school students can provide a letter from a teacher/coach/leader from other extracurricular activities as necessary.  All letters must include a phone number where the teacher can be contacted at their current school location.  Letters can be sent to CD/FW, PO Box 11652, Fort Worth, TX 76110.  E-mail letters can be sent to cdfw@cdfw.org

WHAT TO BRING: Yourself in dance clothes or close-fitting athletic wear which shows the lines of the body.  Be prepared to dance barefoot.  You do not need to prepare anything to perform.  You should be prepared to improvise and “perform” while dancing during the audition.  We are not looking so much at what you already know how to do, but are instead trying to get a sense of your talents and abilities, your potential, and your willingness to learn.  Your success will be measured by your attitude and energy, your execution of the movement material given, and how well you are able to listen to the instructions to demonstrate immediate effort and improvement in the manner requested by the instructor.

Students offered a “full” scholarship must agree to pay $3 a month as a sign of their commitment to their studies.  All scholarship students must: - Provide their own transportation to class and make a commitment to attend class regularly. - Attend the appropriate classes as recommended by the CD/FW staff for her/his age and level of experience. If the times that these courses are offered are not suitable for the student, he/she must forfeit the scholarship.
