Adopt-A-School Program

/

Since its founding in 1990, the CD/FW Co. has presented lecture- demonstrations, teaching residencies, and master classes in public and private schools throughout the Tarrant County area and beyond.  CD/FW provides arts programming to students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience modern dance in a classroom or a theatre. Students have the opportunity to see dance works by choreographers recognized at local, regional, and national levels.
In April 1996, CD/FW received the Fort Worth ISD's Outstanding Small Company/Organization Partnership Award for its Adopt-A-School program at Manuel Jara Elementary. CD/FW has provided on-going programs at Manuel Jara since Fall 1994.  CD/FW is also honored to present educational programs through the artist rosters for the Imagination Celebration of Fort Worth and the Texas Commission on the Arts' Touring Arts Program.

CD/FW was instrumental in the development of TCU New Century Danscene (NCD), a project bringing modern dance to area schools. (NCD was funded by the Bass Foundation through the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County to Texas Christian Univ.) As of Fall 1997, TCU NCD is no longer being funded.
The CD/FW Board of Directors includes a standing Education Committee which oversees programming and long-term development.
